Mr. Burns, A Post-Elelctric Play
At left are the designs for the Act 3 costumes for Generic Theater's 2015 production of Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play.
One of the central motifs of the show is the way that stories adapt over time, culminating in the third act's transformation of The Simpsons from pop culture into mythology.
My designs for the costumes drew inspiration from ancient Greek and operatic themes in the script, morphing them with futuristic elements. The director specifically asked that Tina Turner's costume from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome inspire Edna's look.
Masks were designed by props artist Heather Shannon.
