As the year comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to look back on some of the exciting projects I was a part of this summer and fall.

Mercury Theatre Company's production of Disney's My Son PInocchio opened June 1, the first show of their 20th anniversary season. The costumes got a great mention in the Cleveland Jewish News review from Bob Abelman, who said, " Katelyn Jackson’s costumes – including the primary-colored outfit adorned by Pinocchio, a gorgeous blue gown worn by the fairy, and the wood grain leotards worn by players while portraying puppets – are clever and add another layer of fun fantasy to a production chock-full of it."

Next came Mercury's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, defined by director Pierre Brault's twist on this musical theatre classic: a black-and-white world in the style of a Cecil B. DeMille 1930's Biblical epic, into which Joseph and his dreams bring color. This is one of my favorite shows, and it was exciting to work on such a unique concept for it.

In the fall, I returned to my regular job stitching in Regent University's theatre department's costume shop. For the fall semester, we put up a production of Romeo and Juliet set in 1969 and It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. The latter just wrapped, and now I'm spending the holiday break starting some builds for next semester.

This summer, I'm working with Mercury Theatre Company in Cleveland, Ohio, costuming their productions of Disney's My Son Pinocchio and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This year marks their 20th anniversary-- a very exciting landmark for the company!

It's also my first time going out of town for summer stock, so it's also been very exciting for me, getting to explore a new city while doing the work I love. I've been stitching, painting, and ironing my little heart out, then using my free hours to venture to local parks, restaurants, and museums (of which the Museum of Contemporary Art is my favorite).

So Pinocchio is shaping up, getting ready to premier in just over a week. If you're in Cleveland this June, be sure to check out the show! You can tell us you're coming here, on Facebook.
